La Tèxtil is a heritage industrial complex of special significance to the history of Lliçà de Vall and the Vallès plain, deeply embedded in the collective memory of those who live here. The industrial buildings are characterized by their wide-span structures. These structures are composed of reinforced concrete pillars topped with steel trusses that define the interior volumes. Outside, a water tank and a chimney stand out as iconic and emblematic elements.
In recent years, the Can Coll industrial estate has begun to transform, shifting toward more tertiary uses instead of industrial ones. This highlights the ongoing transformation of the area. Additionally, it is important to consider that Lliçà de Vall has a pressing need for new residential growth areas. The site also sits within a landscape of special interest, surrounded on three sides by agricultural fields and the Merdanç stream. Moreover, it offers panoramic views over the Vallès plain. The textile company Tèxtil Torres ceased production in 2002.
All these factors present an opportunity for the recycling and regeneration of the site. With the area no longer serving its original industrial purpose and with the goal of preserving its historical memory, the idea emerged to redesign the existing structures and volumes. This way, their lifespan can be extended and adapted to the new needs of the population.

The urban strategy involves subtracting and trimming existing volumes to provide the remaining ones with the necessary conditions to become livable, while opening up new streets and preserving the heritage identity of La Tèxtil.
Moreover, the designation of land for urban parks and public facilities is closely linked to the natural landscape and the ecological corridor of the Merdanç stream, extending and integrating them. The urban parks are designed to celebrate the industrial heritage, preserving the chimney and transforming the water tank into an amphitheater.
Continuous bands of vegetation are introduced to improve well-being, habitability, and street aesthetics. At the same time, these continuous tree pits allow for better rainwater infiltration, promoting a more sustainable approach to stormwater management.
Public spaces have been designed with resilience and landscape integration in mind. This ensures visual and landscape continuity with the natural environment, removing existing architectural barriers. To activate the urban areas, commercial uses and public facilities are strategically placed to serve as focal points of attraction and activity.

The project stems from the desire to preserve the historical memory of La Tèxtil and regenerate industrial spaces and volumes that no longer serve their original purpose. These obsolete structures represent an excellent opportunity to be recycled and repurposed to meet the current needs of the population.
The urban plan blends various building typologies. Combined with the reuse of existing structures and volumes, this has allowed for a wide range of housing types—from one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments to three- and four-bedroom terraced houses with generous ceiling heights.
The materials used for the buildings and houses reference their industrial past, leaving steel trusses exposed and designing interiors with a contemporary industrial aesthetic. Facade textures are defined with rough materials in soft tones, blending into the surrounding landscape. Additionally, large openings are incorporated into the enclosures to flood the interiors with natural light.
